30 Days of Christmas Coffees – Day Eight
Holiday Flat White – a Blend of Beans and Festive Dreams
As we journey through SpillintheBeans.com’s 30 Days of Christmas Coffee series, we’ve arrived at Day 8, where we have a special treat in store for you – the Holiday Flat White. This delightful coffee creation combines the robust flavors of our exclusive Holiday Blend coffee with the warmth of creamy milk creating a microfoam and a dash of festive spice.
In this blog post, we’ll dive deeper into why our Holiday Blend is the perfect canvas for creating this comforting holiday-inspired drink and give you a few Flat White tips!
The Flat White
A traditional Flat White is two shots of ristretto and twice as much microfoam. The microfoam is thicker than regular foam, with a velvety texture instead of frothy.
You’ll find that a steaming wand is the best tool to produce the results you want. However, if you don’t have a steaming wand (and not many people do), steam your milk first and then use a handheld milk frother (or whisk). But, instead of skimming the top, keep the frother in the liquid to create a thicker and more consistent result.
Gather up your ingredients
- – 2 shots of SpillintheBeans.com’s Holiday Blend coffee – brewed like espresso (or, preferably, ristretto)
- – 4 oz of whole milk (or your preferred milk alternative – almond or oat milks are good substitutions)
- – 1-2 tablespoons of gingerbread syrup (adjust to taste) – recipe for homemade gingerbread syrup in our Gingerbread Christmas Cappuccino Recipe
- – A pinch of ground cinnamon
The Magic of Holiday Blend Coffee
SpillintheBeans.com’s Holiday Blend is a unique coffee creation, specially crafted to capture the essence of the holiday season. This blend is not your everyday coffee; it’s a festive masterpiece that combines different coffee bean varieties to create a harmonious and flavor-packed profile.
Our Holiday Blend features a medium roast profile that strikes the perfect balance between the bright acidity and the bold body. It’s the result of blending different beans, each contributing its own unique character to the final cup.
The Roast
Medium roast coffee beans are the star of our Holiday Blend. This roast level preserves the nuances of each bean while developing a balanced and versatile flavor. The beans are roasted to perfection, allowing them to shine with a caramelized sweetness and mild acidity.

Holiday Flat White Recipe Details
You can save or print the recipe card above. But if you’re new to making Flat Whites, here are more detailed instructions that’ll walk you through, step-by-step.
1. Brew the Holiday Blend Coffee
Start by brewing 2 shots of SpillintheBeans.com’s Holiday Blend coffee using your preferred method. This coffee blend is the perfect canvas for holiday spices. It has a medium roast profile, making it the perfect base for our Holiday Flat White. Keep in mind, though, that a Flat White is traditionally made with Ristretto. So, make your shots as strong as possible.
2. Steam the Milk
In a milk frothing pitcher, steam and froth the whole milk until it reaches a creamy, velvety consistency. A steam wand is the optimal method, but you can use a frother if you steam the milk first. If you’re using a milk alternative, make sure to choose one that froths well, such as oat or almond milk. Remember, you’re creating more of a microfoam than a froth.
3. Add Gingerbread Syrup
While the milk is doing its thing, add 1-2 tablespoons of gingerbread syrup to your coffee mug. Adjust the quantity to suit your taste preferences; you can make it sweeter or spicier by adding more or less syrup.
4. Combine the Ingredients
Pour the freshly brewed Holiday Blend coffee into your mug with the gingerbread syrup. Then, stir the coffee and syrup together to ensure they’re well mixed.
5. Add the Foamy Milk
Slowly pour the steamed milk over the coffee and gingerbread syrup. Hold back the microfoam with a spoon to get more of the creamy milk into your cup.
6. Top with a Pinch of Cinnamon
Sprinkle a pinch of ground cinnamon on top of the milk foam. This adds a delightful aroma and a touch of holiday spice to your Holiday Flat White.
