For the Dalgona Coffee
2Tbspinstant espresso(or instant coffee) - we recommend Cafe Bustelo
2Tbspsugar
2Tbsphot water
For the Milk Layer
1cupmilk (dairy or nut)
1/2tsppeppermint extract
1/8tspalmond extract
Garnish
crushed candy canes or sparkle sugar
Instructions
Dalgona Coffee Foam
In a mixing bowl, combine coffee, sugar, and hot water
Whip the mixture with an electric mixer on high until it becomes thick and fluffy (you can use a whisk, but it will take a while to get the consistency you need)
Milk Layer
Warm the milk in the microwave or in a small saucepan on low (you want the milk to be steamy but not boiling
Stir in the extracts and mix well
Assemble the Peppermint Dalgona Coffee
Pour the milk mixture into a clear glass mug (or glass) - you want to see the layers
Spoon the whipped coffee mixture over the milk, creating a thick layer on top
Sprinkle candy canes or other festive enhancements on top
Notes
You'll want to give the drink a gentle stir before enjoying to combine the flavors
For a cold version, let the milk mixture cool slightly and pour it over ice
For a chocolate peppermint twist, add 1-2 Tbsp of unsweetened cocoa powder to the coffee mixture before whipping
